It stretched nearly half a mile.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-340 size-full\" style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/craft.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"104\" height=\"34\" \/><\/p>\n<h5>Have your students\u00a0<strong>make crafts with Pi Day themes<\/strong>, either as homework for Pi Day, or in class when the day arrives.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb So many possibilities! \u00a0Just a few that have been done are: Jewelry (Beads), Paper Plate Pi Hats, Pi Day Greeting Cards, Pi-Mobiles, Paper Dolls, and Pi Buttons. We&#8217;re sure this is only the tip of the crafty iceberg.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-307 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/spell.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"98\" height=\"35\" \/><\/p>\n<h5>The day before Pi Day, <strong>pass out paper plates, and assign each student a digit<\/strong>. Have them draw the number on the plate, and color and decorate it. On Pi Day, hang them along a string or on the hallway wall, or have everyone hold their plate and stand in one big circle.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb At Foothill Knolls Elem. in Ontario, CA, a square of more than 200 students was formed outside the building, each one holding his or her decorated paper plate. &#8220;We wanted to do just more than tell them about it,&#8221; said sixth grade teacher Beth Stone. &#8220;This allows them to actually become a part of Pi.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-333 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/bead.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"105\" height=\"34\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><strong>Make a chain of beads<\/strong>, where each number is represented by a different color. Students can make personal bracelets, or work on one ultra-long strand as a class.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb Greenway School students in Knoxville, TN worked to assemble a string of 4,000 beads.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-284 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/accessorize.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"42\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><strong>Decorate your clothes<\/strong> with the pi symbol, and have the students do the same! Let&#8217;s hope the Art department will help you out with some markers, glue, glitter, and a little puffy paint.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb About 100 math students at Chittenango H.S. in Syracuse, NY decorated t-shirts, shorts, necklaces, socks, jeans, and hair accessories for the big day.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-290 size-full\" style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/wear.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"36\" \/><\/p>\n<h5>Have all your school&#8217;s math teachers wear <strong>pi-themed t-shirts<\/strong>, either homemade (pi-dyed?) or purchased. Find a variety of pre-made, pi-themed apparel at www.pidye.com.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb Red River H.S. teachers in Grand Forks, ND sported slogans like &#8220;Cow Pi&#8221; and &#8220;Turkey Pot Pi.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-300 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/send.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"101\" height=\"33\" \/><\/h5>\n<h5>Send an <strong>e-card<\/strong>, or <strong>cut out &amp; decorate your own card<\/strong>, to wish someone far away a Happy Pi Day.
