It&#8217;s been done successfully by many schools!<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb Foundations that have given money for Pi Day include: The Quincy School-Community Partnership (a coalition of 128 businesses, based in Quincy, MA).<\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-286 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/theme.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"122\" height=\"36\" \/><br \/>\nCreate a school-wide theme each year for Pi Day. Kick it off on the morning announcements, or with well-placed banners.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb Davis M.S. in Hampton, VA decided to emphasize an artistic link with a theme of &#8220;Art + Math = Fun Learning.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-281 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/dress.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"107\" height=\"36\" \/><\/p>\n<h5>Dress up like birthday-boy Albert Einstein on Pi Day, and encourage students to do so, too. Or, use your imagination and dress as Pi\u2026 yes, it&#8217;s been done.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb As with everything else, you can make it a costume contest\u2026 The prize: a pie inscribed with E=mc squared?<\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-314 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/groove.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"131\" height=\"37\" \/><br \/>\nPlay pi-themed songs over the P.A. system between classes, to get people in the Pi Day spirit. We&#8217;re talking about classic hits that relate to Pi Day, as opposed to actual Pi Day carols.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb Dutch Fork H.S. in Columbia, SC played &#8220;American Pie&#8221; and &#8220;Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch&#8221; over the speakers during passing periods on the big day.<\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-290 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/wear.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"106\" height=\"36\" \/><br \/>\nHave all your school&#8217;s math teachers wear pi-themed t-shirts, either homemade (pi-dyed?) or purchased. Find a variety of pre-made, pi-themed apparel at www.pidye.com.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb Red River H.S. teachers in Grand Forks, ND sported slogans like &#8220;Cow Pi&#8221; and &#8220;Turkey Pot Pi.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-289 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/watch.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"121\" height=\"40\" \/><br \/>\nShow the 1998 independent film, &#8220;Pi.&#8221; Be sure to screen it yourself first; it&#8217;s a rather edgy movie (R-rated) with language, drugs, and a little gore. Probably suited only for college kids or teacher gatherings. \u00a0Oh, and by the way, it has nothing to do with our beloved number.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb For more information, go to the film&#8217;s official Web site.<\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-335 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/birthday.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"161\" height=\"39\" \/><br \/>\nSing &#8220;Happy Birthday&#8221; to Albert Einstein, who was born on a blessed Pi Day in 1879.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb Independent Day School in Tampa, FL chooses the Pi Minute, 1:59, to belt out this tribute.<\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-300 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/send.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"101\" height=\"33\" \/><br \/>\nSend an e-card, or cut out &amp; decorate your own card, to wish someone far away a Happy Pi Day. Here&#8217;s the best e-place to do it.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb Or, send Hallmark a note asking them get to work on a line of real Pi Day cards!<\/p>\n<h5><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-305 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.teachpi.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/socialize.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"153\" height=\"42\" \/><br \/>\nUse Pi Day as a reason to go out with your department, perhaps for an evening of pie at a local restaurant-bakery.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00bb The Dupage County Science Fiction Society holds an outing each year at various restaurants in Wheaton, IL, drawing around 100 folks. It&#8217;s open to the public, but they do enforce an interesting dress code: Guests must carry a laptop, calculator, abacus, slide rule, or other math gadgets.
