Apply for a grant from local foundations or business coalitions, for funds to use toward your Pi Day celebration. It’s been done successfully by many schools!<\/h5>\n

\nPlay pi-themed songs over the P.A. system between classes, to get people in the Pi Day spirit. We’re talking about classic hits that relate to Pi Day, as opposed to actual Pi Day carols.<\/h5>\n

\u00bb Dutch Fork H.S. in Columbia, SC played “American Pie” and “Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch” over the speakers during passing periods on the big day.<\/p>\n

\nHave all your school’s math teachers wear pi-themed t-shirts, either homemade (pi-dyed?) or purchased. Find a variety of pre-made, pi-themed apparel at www.pidye.com.<\/h5>\n

\u00bb Red River H.S. teachers in Grand Forks, ND sported slogans like “Cow Pi” and “Turkey Pot Pi.”<\/p>\n

\nShow the 1998 independent film, “Pi.” Be sure to screen it yourself first; it’s a rather edgy movie (R-rated) with language, drugs, and a little gore. Probably suited only for college kids or teacher gatherings. \u00a0Oh, and by the way, it has nothing to do with our beloved number.<\/h5>\n

It’s open to the public, but they do enforce an interesting dress code: Guests must carry a laptop, calculator, abacus, slide rule, or other math gadgets.
